Dizzy: The forgotten hero?

Those of us over a certain age will remember Dizzy. Before Mario and Sonic, Dizzy (an egg) was a gaming hero, that starred in a number of games for the C64 (along with the Amstrad and Spectrum). I believe the last game was published in 1994, and there hasn't been anything since, which is odd as these games often sold like hot cakes.

Any memories of playing any of the dizzy games? I only managed to complete two of them: Spellbound Dizzy and Dizzy Down the Rapids. Though my personal favourite was Bubble Dizzy, just for the unbelievably catchy C64 music!

Dizzy was a UK thing, it seems, because at least for the early-to-mid/late 80's when I was C64 gamer (up until about '88), I never saw anything Dizzy in game shops.

Then again, I missed Last Ninja stuff as well...I was pretty into the more serious RPG type games.

That said, I am now recommending Dizzy games on my C64 "gateway" site because I've played a couple of the games (not all the way through yet) and they are great games for C64 beginners.

I think I'll do a more extensive Dizzy writeup - or if you save me the trouble I'll link here! (Ha)

    Cheers,
