Commodore Amiga
The Commodore Amiga was released in 1985 in the US and UK markets by Commodore International. The first model, the Amiga 1000, wasn’t hugely popular, with people sticking with the original Commodre 64. However, the release of the “Commodore Amiga 500”, a low end model that retailed at $595, saw the popularity soar. It was particularly popular with strategy games, with Lemmings, Worms and Theme Park all released with huge success. However, classic shooters such as Alien Breed made sure that action fanatics had plenty to chew over.
Following a foray into the console market with the CD-32, Commodore International wenk bankrupt. However, hobbyists kept the Amiga alive well into the early 2000’s.
You can buy Commadore Amiga games from the Retro Games shop on Retro Garden.
