Retro PC
Quick question – which computer system still going today has had over 20 years of games for it? The answer is the classic IBM PC. Sure, it’s gone from a number of updates since the command line DOS prompts from the early 1990’s, but the mantra of PC gaming is the same as ever. If you can pay for it, you’ve got the best gaming system in the world. Today the PC is home to the most innovative form of gaming – both in the form of multimillion pound blockbusters, and even little flash games have innovation.
This is what makes PC gaming so great, and it has a deep vein of history. Most innovations commonplace nowadays began life on the PC. Gaming over the internet, fully immersive 3D worlds, parallax scrolling, point & click adventures, first person shooters and proper driving games all originated on the PC. With such a rich vein of history, it’d be stupid to not review a bunch of these games, even if I was too poor to own a £1,000 machine in my early teens.
