Blaze Entertainment continues to delight retro gaming fans with two upcoming releases for its popular Evercade platform, bringing classic arcade action and modern retro titles to new audiences. Here’s a look at what’s coming in December 2024:
Kai Magazine Dual-Game Cartridge: Metal Dragon & Life on Mars
On October 23, 2024, Blaze Entertainment announced the latest addition to their Evercade home console lineup — a dual-game cartridge featuring two critically acclaimed titles from indie developer Kai Magazine Software: Metal Dragon and Life on Mars. This new release will be numbered #42 in the red-colored console series and is set to launch in December 2024, priced at £17.99 / $19.99 / €19.99.
Metal Dragon is a top-down, action-packed run-and-gun game where players control a rogue operative tasked with rescuing the president’s daughter. The mission, intended to be covert, quickly turns chaotic due to the protagonist’s penchant for explosive mayhem. Fans of old-school action games will appreciate its fast-paced gameplay and multiple difficulty levels, ensuring plenty of replay value.
Life on Mars takes a different approach, offering an atmospheric 16-bit platformer experience inspired by classic sci-fi horror films of the 1980s. Players step into the shoes of interplanetary repair technician Sam, who must uncover the mystery behind the sudden communication breakdown from a Martian colony. The game features exploration-based gameplay, with players gradually unlocking new abilities to progress through the eerie base.
Kai Magazine’s Oscar Kenneth Albero Ingles expressed excitement about the collaboration, highlighting that this Evercade-exclusive cartridge will bring their top-selling games to a wider audience. The release will be compatible with all Evercade systems, including HyperMegaTech! Super Pocket consoles, further expanding its accessibility.
Toaplan Arcade 4 Collection: A Blast from the Past
Blaze Entertainment also announced a brand-new entry in its popular arcade cartridge series on July 30, 2024. The Toaplan Arcade 4 collection brings six iconic titles from the legendary developer Toaplan to the Evercade platform, enriching its ever-growing library of retro classics. This collection will be numbered #13 in the purple-spined arcade series with a release date set for December 2024.
The cartridge includes:
- Dogyuun – A high-intensity vertical shooter with powerful weapon upgrades.
- Grind Stormer – A dual-mode shooter offering both “Grind” and “Storm” gameplay styles.
- Knuckle Bash – A quirky beat ’em up with eccentric characters and wild action.
- Pipi’s & Bibi’s – A fun, mischievous platformer packed with daring challenges.
- Snow Bros 2 – A sequel to the beloved Snow Bros, featuring new characters and cooperative play.
- Sky Shark (8-bit version) – A classic shoot ’em up presented in its nostalgic 8-bit form.
These titles, many of which are debuting on home consoles for the first time, will be compatible with all Evercade systems, including the new Evercade Alpha and VS-R models. Blaze’s commitment to preserving gaming history shines through this release, offering players physical cartridges complete with collectible cases and full-color manuals.
We will be stocking the carts in our Evercade Shop soon enough.
